What books or courses would you recommend for commercial photography or illustration for a UI designer?
I have a weak point - the selection of illustrations for sites. I spend a lot of time on selection and approval. There is already enough taste not to insert handshakes, happy corporate idiots and other trash from stocks, but the selection of wow illustrations is still a problem. One swearing and controversy. Clearly, you need to train visualization. But surely there are books, courses, video seminars that will help develop more or less objective selection criteria?

Depends on what exactly you need. Calling a photographer a photographer is the same as calling a developer a computer scientist.
There is Alexander Medvedev. He has a course on the same torrent, where he talks about how to train observation, photography development trends. In VK, he has a list of top 100 world-class photographers - take them and look at them 1-2 people a day.
There is also Sergei Rozhnov, he has a site Rusfoto about, there is a tab, 'inspiration' and a list of films, photographers and artists.
There is also Alexander (or Alexey) Shadrin (he has a Photoshop course, by the way), he talks a lot about painting, analyzes paintings.
In the courses, after all, no one will teach you quickly, besides, the courses often say the same thing, which is available for free. Medvedev just often conducts an intro before a course about wow pictures.
It is important that he (s) can give the basic principles for constructing such a picture, and then all the same, only observation will help you. Medvedev says so: first we copy everything, look, and only then we begin to create.
Wish you luck!
PS: there are a lot of photographers on Instagram who often broadcast (sometimes so much that where to get a spare day!) often with useful content. The more you look, the more aware and further knowledge is collected bit by bit. In fact, many doing so, after organizing courses (business) and earn.
P.s. 2: By the way, there are sites where you can take pictures for free in good quality - unsplash for example.
