What books are worth reading to understand what a router, switch, access point is, how computer networks work?

We need books for the "uninitiated" in these matters.

"Computer networks" by Olifer (or Olifer, I don't remember how many there are) - everything is set out in as much detail as possible. Read and understand this book - consider the first 3 courses of the university in VMKSS "in your pocket"
