What are the options for converting (from HTML) or generating complex documents?

Please help me with a difficult task for me:
The document should consist of a set of tables with a size of no more than 5 * 5 cells. The table may contain figures. What are the options for generating DOC(x) ? It is desirable that all this be in python. We also consider a variant of a parallel ASP server that will convert tables to Docx using standard Office tools.
Is there a tool for python or linux for this? Or will you have to remember .net and write a generator on Windows?
