And it seems that minimalism and parallaxes are in trend.

Transparent buttons (as they are currently used on the toaster),
Pseudo 3D flat using shadows (long shadows, only more detail),
Side menu (although it is already subsiding)
Horizontal scrolling I think will soon be released to the masses for specific projects.
