What are the initial ftp settings?

Good afternoon!
After installing wordpress (so easy), I can't add files, change theme... Ftp installed by proftp. Wordpress itself was installed as root. The procedure for setting up wordpress + ftp after installation does not seem to be described anywhere. If there is somewhere, then poke your nose.

Thank you. Looked through the rights and owners. The rights are correct and the owner is ftpuser. But doesn't work.

Hello!
It is possible that the VP is rooted and the Apache user is different and are different accordingly....
Look towards chown to set the correct owner on the VP site directory
Also check chmod (755 for directories, 644 for files)
