I do not recommend UPwork to anyone at all. a lot of scammers, strict and stupid administration rules. If you send a lot of requests - ban, if you don't send requests - ban, if you don't answer the client - ban. This is their new policy, apparently the servers can not stand it, and there are too many Hindus, and they cut everyone out. The commission compared to others is simply huge. Avoid the English-speaking Freelancer , too, they heat up for money and paid subscriptions for which you did not subscribe. I recommend it from myself if you know English well and have an impressive experience, then Toptal, if you don’t have an impressive experience, then Localsolo is a free freelance platform and there are a lot of customers there. In any case, hosting a portfolio on Localhost will not be superfluous. About GuruI've also heard a lot of good reviews, but I haven't checked it myself, I don't know.

Upwork is the biggest. English. Lots of people, lots of competition. But there are many offers.
Russian-speakers against their background - very little work and less money. fl.ru is the biggest.
