What are the errors when working with the database?

I recently read an article .
I adopted a couple of interesting things (use limit for single ones, and that you can get rid of the double in favor of a simple int, the rest was basically clear anyway), but it seems to me that there are some other tricks of working with the database.
Are there more similar articles? Do you have any personal examples?
I also read somewhere that it’s better not to use triggers, but I don’t remember why ...
In general, are triggers good or is it better to get rid of them?
