What are the books on Java core, for a programmer?

Suggest books on java core. There is knowledge of c # and .net in general, also described sites and api on python / django. Now interested in android development everywhere require knowledge of java core. The books that I found are either old or very newbies want something more substantial, preferably SE 9.
