What are the best practices when migrating from AD to a domain controller on Linux?

Good afternoon!
Colleagues, there is an Active Directory for 500 users. There is a desire to migrate to a Linux domain controller.
There was an idea to raise a secondary DC to Samba, but when migrating data, an error occurs on some old key associated with Exchange (not used by us) and then switch it to Primary. Thoughts arose as to whether all this rubbish should be dragged to a new server.
The question arose
How did you migrate? Are there any best practices for this task?

The best practice is not to do this. Hell is a very good tool, but samba is a crooked product. And very old. In general, do not get involved, in six months you will return to what it was. IMHO

Immediately after migrating AD to Linux, transfer all user computers to Linux as well, and then turn off Samba to hell.

I would approach this issue from the other side, a longer way.
1) I would start transferring computers to Linux with a connection to the existing AD at the focus group (20-30 pieces)
2) Then I would raise FreeIPA and associate it with a domain controller. I looked at how the computers in the domain will behave, both Linux and Windows, otherwise a lot of all sorts of jambs can get out.
3) If minor problems are solved, I would continue the gradual transfer of the PC to Linux.
4) And only when all services and users are transferred to the Linux system and there will be stable operation, only then we display the Windows domain controller
