What are the best practices for auto-assembly and deployment of a project on gh pages (layout)?

I want to understand what is better to use in order to automatically deploy to gh pages in any dev version when working with a local project.
that is, I run let’s say npm run dev, the project is hacked and any changes are deployed to gh-pages , then when the project is built, the already built project is deployed.
Is there any best option? I have seen a lot of plugins for webpack and npm packages but would like to identify the best one
