What are the alternatives to the findViewById() method?

Hello!
On one of the resources I came across a recommendation to avoid findViewById(), and instead use "a field with the final specifier and a reference to the component" (at the very bottom of the article "Android-specific requirements"). Please tell me what is meant here and how it is implemented.
