What are some good fonts for ubuntu?

Installed ubuntu, but the standard font, and anti-aliasing did not really like it. In general, what are alternative good fonts for ubuntu?
I'm just used to that on Windows and the font of the norms and anti-aliasing. But in ubuntu it generally looks like xs what. Vyrviglaz in general.

Smoothing is a feature of the system. Anti-aliasing from Windows, as far as I know, is not yet used for Linux due to Microsoft / Apple patents. But you can try the Roboto or Droid fonts. They are not bad, especially for code editing.

Dig into your system's font settings and turn on sub-pixel anti-aliasing and full hinting, the quality of the fonts will improve a lot.
