What are desktop applications written in?

Good day, tell me what applications for the desktop are written on? I mostly use MS products (windows7 - 8 etc), but I don’t really like c#, for my purpose, what would you advise?

Why?
Just write on it now.
The rest of the alternatives will be worse.
I see only one alternative - C ++, but it is used to write interfaces only in very mass and performance-critical products.
Writing on it is much more time-consuming.

Desktop applications can be written on a lot of things.

C++ / Qt
For perverts - Java + Swing or SWT, for oldfags - Delphi (C++ is also there), for small software fans - C#
