What about Debian 8 as an OS for web development?

Hello. I'm relatively new to web development, so I'm newbie, newfag, etc. I started with layout, watched from the side and played with nodeJS, now I'm more or less trying to understand rails (again, for the sake of interest and pleasure, common sense rarely bothered me ^.^). I had to switch from Windows to Linux Mint, then ubuntu'y 14.04 (about a year on it, there are no particular jambs, except perhaps micro-lags, and this is because of my picking in the OS).
Essence of the question. What can you say / what is your attitude to the current Debian 8, is it suitable for web development and are there any features / features / bugs in this system, and any critical differences from the same ubuntu (and yes , I know that ubuntu is debian's successor) ?
I myself have heard little about Debian, I realized from Google that it is German quality, etc. But I didn’t really find any reviews regarding the development and, in general, as a complete working environment about it.
PS I would be glad for any answers, please do not strictly judge my superficial judgments that were said at the very beginning ^_^
UPD: The question can be considered closed. Thank you all for your replies, you really helped ^_^

And what about the Germans? There are developers from all over the world.
This is a universal OS, suitable for everything. The largest official database of packages. There is no moronic division into separate branches, as in riots. From one source, at least a server is installed, at least a desktop with any DE / WM.
I've been using it since the late 90's.

In fact, everything is simple: if you are well versed in linux, then of course install Debian. Otherwise, better stay on mint/ubuntu

I personally didn’t feel the difference, but now I’m using ubuntu 15.10
but I don’t know why after Windows it seems so slow-witted /

Any talk that this Linux distribution is cool, but that one is not very good, is a scam for suckers (they say, how smart I am!).
If you're comfortable with Linux for work, whatever Linux you're comfortable with, whatever you're used to is good... but they're all Linux (not Debian, Ubuntu, or Fedora).

Choose the OS that is more convenient for you in terms of reliability and convenience. And from the point of view of the code execution environment, you need to make a virtual machine or container so as not to pollute the system with unnecessary services or have several environment options at hand.
