Website design book?

Hello Habr readers, are there designers of websites, infographics of banners, logos, etc. among you.
I would like to find 1 book of a kind of almanac that you can read and understand the main points of creating a good layout.
I need 1-2 books, but such that you can re-read all your life. A list from the Lenin Library is not necessary)
I would be glad for any advice.

Design is, on the one hand, handicraft (due to its applied nature), on the other hand, it is art (you need a flair and a sense of beauty), on the third, attention to detail and perseverance (because it requires fanatical adherence to the developed guides, styles and formats).
You can read whatever comes to hand. But at least you need to know:
- Font graphics (the history of fonts, the prerequisites for their appearance, usability, restrictions imposed).
-- Typographic grids (padding, organization of space, composition)
-- Writing, organization and perception of text
-- Coloring
-- The basics of composition
will not hurt:
-- Fundamentals of photography (understand contrast and composition)
- Fundamentals of journalism (the basis for understanding the format of texts and mastery of the headline)
- History of art (so as not to overdo it with eclecticism).
Lots of books. The cheapest books, sometimes, are no less useful than expensive ones from venerable authors. There's only one downside to cheap design books - they never follow the rules they're told to follow. You read about fonts, indents, organization of headings and wonder: "why don't you follow the advice on your pages yourself"! By the way, this is just the advantage of cheap books. You can clearly see what not to do! You don't feel this in good books, because everything seems obvious.
I will follow the example of the commentator above and give some useful books, in my opinion:

  • Web design. book by jakob nielsen
  • Font in visual agitation
  • Color and symbol in art, design and architecture
  • Web design: a book by Dmitry Kirsanov (the layout has become much worse compared to the first edition)
  • Text for Web. Availability and attractiveness
  • Ruder's typography
  • Applied Journalism (Kolesnichenko A)
  • Volume 7 (three parts) of the Children's Encyclopedia from Avanta+ It's all about art and the head falls into place. You begin to understand where and why it is so and not otherwise.

There are a lot of books, actually. Above wrote. True, they all forgot one small but important detail. Books must be fresh. Not older than at least 2013. Trends, computers are changing, browsers are evolving, standards are evolving and the web is being used more and more by small screen touch devices. So the book by S. Krug, don't make me think of 2005, is already more interesting for historians than for practicing designers. Same with Lebedev's leadership. Most of the advice he wrote for the realities of 2000-2005, many are no longer relevant, and some are simply harmful. So choose what you like the main year of release.
