Website blocking, can dns handle it?

Hello, I need to block a number of sites. A little stupid question - can this be done by raising your dns server and adding it to the router? Or what is a better way to block?

It is possible, but this is from the most suckers, because it is impossible to bypass such a "block" only if Windows and there are no admin rights. There are many ways to block - you did not say where it is or what it is - therefore it is impossible to advise anything.
