Website and mail via CNAME at the same time?

My hosting is linked to the domain via CNAME. I'm trying to create mail for a site on mailgun or sendgrid, but neither there nor there dns records are confirmed when checking. Do I understand correctly that through CNAME you can bind either a website or mail to a domain, but not both at the same time?

Understood nothing.
CNAME is the name of the host responsible for the Mail subdomain
. Mail is the MX record where you will enter what the service will give you.
Or what exactly is not working for you?
For example, you posted a site on Google Sites, and mail, for example, on mailservice.com.
You wrote something like this in your dns:

www CNAME ghs.google.com
@ MX mx.mailservice.com (то что выдаст сервис)
@ TXT v=spf1 redirect=_spf.mailservice.com

and you will have a website www.domain.ru and mail like [email protected] A
bonus is a redirect domain.ru -> www.domain.ru, if you only have www.domain.ru attached to your hosting - Redirect from domain.ru on www.domain.ru without a web server, service?

Bind via A
If there is a CNAME, then everything else is ignored
