Web - to be or not to be?

Hey Habr!

Help me decide, please. The essence is that - there is some experience in programming on Pascal/C/C/AS. Lately I have become interested in web programming.

The question is what technologies are now popular and actively used in the development of web applications? Where is the best place to start exploring this area? Thank you.

PS I look towards Python (Django). Is the game worth the candle?

CSS there. Most web developers know CSS anyway.

I tried it, I liked it. But keep in mind that web programming is always a combined knowledge of several languages. HTML JavaScript well let django (python). Although php is much faster and simpler (albeit less structurally). Django is good for writing Web Applications in objects.

In order not to force the brain with several new concepts at once (or rather, to at least slightly reduce their number), it may make sense to look at C # or Java - compiled languages with static typing.

It usually takes no more than a few days to learn any of the languages, so you can learn both PHP and Python.
The problem is that in real work, knowledge of the language is, according to my estimates, about 10% of the total amount of knowledge necessary for effective and full-fledged work. The remaining 90% is knowledge of frameworks, libraries, and code that has already been written before you. So you probably won't be able to work right away anyway.
But since you will need the minimum set (HTML, Javascript, Python or PHP) in any case, you should start with it.

If you have experience with C #, I would direct you in this direction, or rather in the direction of object-c
Mobile applications are now incredibly gaining momentum. In addition, I would take JS and HTML with a direction to mobile sites ...
