Web programming tutor, is it necessary or not?

Hey! I studied programming and layout myself for 4 months, made a couple of simple sites on WordPress, but didn’t perform specific tasks from the category of programming (write an authorization form in PHP or make a drop-down menu in JavaScript, etc.).
"Smarts" yell here and on other forums "Just do it!!!!", ok, for example, I learned the basics of JavaScript and even successfully did small practical tasks, but what's next ?! How to understand what will be needed exactly in today’s and tomorrow’s real web development, what tasks need to be done, which ones are not necessary, it’s not clear, because you can spend a year only on JS, only on JS! if it is enough to know how to make some visual effects at the initial stage, and then learn the rest?
In general, what do you think about the tutor, the current web programmer from the web studio?
Just at the moment I realized that I need a person with experience who will say "do this, you don't need it, you can see it here, read it, etc." and check the assignments.

Definitely a good mentor will help you a lot to move forward. Another question is where to find it. I would advise taking htmlacademy.ru courses, or something like that, they have not bad intensive courses.
Of course, you can study on your own, but it will take much more time. Also, keep in mind that our community does not like newbies, and they will most likely send you simple questions, and it’s good if you go to Google)))

1) How old are you? Get a job?
2) If it’s not enough, go freelancing, they will really tell you what to do
. I don’t see the need for such tutoring

If there is an option to get at least an intern then this is a huge plus, you learn to work in a team, you understand what code conventions are, you learn to work without conflicts. If it's possible to just find a mentor you know, that's fine, but I don't think it's very easy.

if you are studying, find yourself a manager for a diploma from an enterprise / organization that deals with IT, who has a desire to make a web application that N number of corporate users will work with. It can be anything, for example, a system for recording user requests to department N.
Try to implement this. Having solved this practical task, you will receive a term paper / diploma / + tremendous experience in development and support.

Try to do several test tasks for different employers. There are examples on the Internet. You will immediately understand what you are missing and where you need to strive to grow ... How many tutors I have met, one is good at coding, but teaches poorly, the other teaches well, but cannot code)) In general, books and tests are your best friends!
