VPN or remote desktop, which is the best choice?

We have corporate resources at work that are only accessible from the office, and now, when many people work from home, they made a connection to a remote table via PPTP at home.
But this is inconvenient, since now all traffic from my computer goes through this connection.

What can be done, how should engineers make the connection more correctly so that not all traffic goes through this connection?

For example, I know that in OpenVPN you can configure that only to certain addresses the request went through the VPN, is it applicable as here?

How to use OpenVPN if I have a Windows connection
(IP XXXX login Password)?

Applicable. After raising the link, you prescribe routes. How is that how it works

In the VPN settings, uncheck the checkbox (something like a default gateway), in this case only the resources of the local network of the vpn server will be available via vpn, it will also be possible to add the selected addresses that need to be allowed through vpn using the route add command.
In windows 10, this is :
- network sharing center
- network connections
- vpn connection properties
- tcp/ipv4 version ip - properties
- advanced
- remove use default virtual network gateway
upd. The issue of choosing vpn and rdp is very good, if the responsiveness of rdp is at an acceptable level (For me, for example, there are situations when a lag that appears even in a local network is already critical), then it’s definitely better to choose rdp, because the isolation level of such a solution is higher and more convenient not only for you (since with vpn, the administrators of the working network have access to your machine, in the sense of a network one, i.e. you need to configure a firewall for protection) but also for corporate security, since rdp access is the narrowest and even allows you to close the work with the clipboard , i.e. limits information leakage and virus penetration as much as possible (but of course not from targeted attacks).

I can recommend hydemyname. Good and relatively cheap vpn. The most thrill for me is that any applications go through a VPN, and there is also the ability to connect 5 devices at once. In the current situation, a very good option. If you also sign up using my link, it will be super. https://hidemy.name/#623cc3f4de403
