VNC comfortable work?

Good afternoon!
Tell me why when using VNC there is a delay in updating the screen, about 0.5 seconds? I tried it on a virtual machine through phpVirtualBox, on a real one and on a client that was installed on a virtual machine - the delay is about the same.
How to remove the delay?
Can you add sound?
If comfortable work via VNC is not possible, tell me what can be used instead of VNC?

Install spice. Or on the x2go system.

It also depends on the server and client.
For example, tightvnc is much slower than realvnc.
However, the delay cannot be completely removed, and comfortable work will not work.

I use tightvnc-server with DFMirage Driver installed on Windows 7 computers. I manage from Remmina on Linux remotely on a 65Mb connection via ssh tunnel. You won’t watch the video, you won’t play games, but you can work quite well. Not instantly, there are delays, you can't add sound to vnc.
If a Windows PC, then use RDP, though if the licenses allow, they don’t allow me (Home basic, premium) and use vnc.
