I'm trying to install VMWare Esxi 5.5 on a machine with MB ECS H61H2-M6 (V1.0) with Realtek 8168E on board. The hypervisor distribution does not include these drivers. I added it manually according to the instructions: www.vladan.fr/realtek-8169-nics-not-detected-under...
Without them, the installer wrote that there was no network at all. After the addition, it became better, the network manager says that there is an uplink, but does not receive a static IP or DHCP address. Maybe someone came across.
Kernel log:
WARNING: Tcpip: 827: Failed to unset the ip address (error = 49).
A Google search offered solutions a la resetting the config to default - it didn't help.

The same situation was six months ago - there is a link, but you can't get a dynamic address, you assign a static one - but there is no ping. I tried all the Realtek boards and the notorious 3COM-905 that were at hand, I can’t say the exact models anymore, of course, it was a long time ago.
What kind of custom-assemblies did not do with additional. drivers are useless. 3COM never saw it.
As a result, I installed Intel EXPI9301CT with an Intel 82574L chip - it worked right away. It was the cheapest option at the time. In general Esxi is on friendly terms with iron from Intel.
Be careful when buying, there are many fakes of this board.

Realtek should be thrown out altogether, not only does it not always work well under the line. And in ESXi it is not supported at all. For the sake of experiment, he also chose a worker from a bunch of realtechs and installed it, also patched and installed it, later the hypervisor began to freeze for no reason.
I bought a network card based on Intel and do not suffer anymore.
If Intel does not suit you, look for hardware support by the hypervisor - look for other options.

You need to put 2 vib'a, which are 8168 and 8169:
