Visual Studio: So is it dark-on-light or light-on-dark?
So what color scheme is best for the eyes? Ordinary paper-shaped or such ?
PS For many years now I have been using “dark-on-light” myself, but I wanted something new, maybe it will be more useful for the eyes :)

I tried to use the dark scheme for a couple of months. before, she seemed really beautiful
; as a result, she returned to light, because. from the dark began to spoil the mood)
Look at what time you work. Checked on myself.
- If during the day with good lighting, then "black on white" gives less strain on the eyes.
- If at night with minimal lighting, then "white on black" gives less strain on the eyes.
I note that "white and black" is a conditional illumination, not colors. For example, I use light yellow and dark blue.
Dark on light. Designers and usability experts approve. Unless you're a coolhacker.
Once I tried to do it this way (white on black), I didn’t feel a difference for my eyes, and even after many years “dark-on-light” somehow I can’t get used to it.
As a result, I decided for myself: there is no difference, it’s more customary to do it.
If you do “light on dark”, then the entire interface, including solution explorer, error list, etc.
For the eyes, if I’m not mistaken, the low total brightness of the picture is important (so that the monitor is by no means the dominant light source in the field of view) and at the same time high contrast (so that you don’t have to strain your eyesight trying to distinguish the indistinguishable).
Also heard that bright green on black is best. Didn't check.
And I'm satisfied with the standard FAR color scheme (and colorer-take5), when the window is full screen, with a font of 18-20pt, with softened relatively standard colors and full screen in graphics mode (40 lines come out somewhere, I use ConEmu) .
Some time ago I tried to port it to all the environments I use, including MSVS. It turned out pretty sad. IMHO, for MSVS it is better to leave the standard one.
I use light-on-dark. Perhaps because the room is not very sunny. In general, there is no universal advice. A good selection of topics can be found here . There is also a tool for conveniently creating your own theme.
