Virtualization on dedicated Windows Server (2008 R2), how?

I bought a server for my project, with licensed Windows, for which I pay $25/month. I want to make normal virtualization: each project has its own container.

The question arises - how to do it? I downloaded Hyper-V Server 2008 R2, but it tells me the following when I want to upgrade:

Windows Server 2008 R2 Standard cannot be upgraded to Hyper-V R2. You can choose to install a new copy of Hyper-V R2 instead, but this is different from an upgrade, and does not keep your files, settings, and programs. You'll need to reinstall any programs using the original installation discs or files. To save your files before installing Windows, back them up to an external location such as a CD, DVD, or external hard drive. To install a new copy of Hyper-V R2, click the Back button in the upper left-hand corner, and select “Custom (advanced)”.

All that remains is the choice of installing a new Windows with Hyper-V, overwriting the previous licensed one. But what about remote access then?-) Will everything be destroyed with the overwriting of Windows, or what will happen at all?

What is the best way to set up virtualization on a dedicated server in my case?

PS Windows Windows Server 2008 R2 Standard (x64)

No need to install Hyper-V Server. You need to add the Hyper-V role in existing Windows.
