I have a nephew, 20 years old. He terribly wants to play games (Stalker, Starcraft 2, Mafia), what else do they have there? In a word, modern toys.
We bought him a relatively good 23 inch monitor for the New Year, but now I understand that it is clearly not enough. I thought and thought, and decided to give him another video card, since he is a player.
The computer is relatively good, Core i5, with 2 gigs on board. Unfortunately, I didn’t buy the computer, there is a certain video “on which everything slows down”, obviously, some kind of cheap card, maybe built-in?
What to buy, I don’t know, within 10-11 thousand?
Googled it, aimed at the Radeon 5870 with a gig on board, does it make sense to take it, or is there a better solution?

Better get nVidia. Long-term use of nVidia and ATI Radeon suggests. Plus, nVidia has CUDA and Physics. Take the most suitable nVidia for this price.
