Video + sound, broadcast

Question

linux

Required: to set up broadcasting of video and sound from a large audience to the site. Plus the ability to record video and sound (mandatory).
There is: a server (it will be Linux), 2 microphones, an IP camera (not yet purchased, but there is a lot of choice), good access to the Internet.
I can do everything, I just haven’t come across such a task and I’m running out of time.

Please help me in which direction to dig. Maybe there is something ready open source?
PS: ready-made industrial solutions are not considered.

vlc (cvlc for console)? Able to take sound and video from different sources, write and broadcast in a bunch of formats.

I'm also for VLC, it's great for streaming. Based on the requirements you describe, it fits perfectly. Especially because of the availability of versions for Linux and even the console.
