Video chat for long distances

Good evening, dear Khabrovites.

The bottom line is this: I live in Moscow, and I communicate a lot with a person from South Korea. Since South Korea is even more than 6 km away, the ping and speed are terrifying, so Skype, which, if I'm not mistaken, makes peer-to-peer calls, is no longer available, the quality is terrible, and in the evening - God forbid, a slideshow!

Many decent options have already been tried, such as google chat, Logitech Vid, etc.

What 1 on 1 video chat services can you recommend, I will even consider paid options.
What is required:
1) High picture quality.
2) Decent speed, taking into account the location of the servers.

Thank you in advance, share your experience, comrades.

I'm afraid that the point here is not the distance, but the quality of the network (perhaps at the far end from you). From America to Russia is no closer than from Korea, but the video goes without problems.

I turn off the video and have an acceptable conversation with a person from, say, Tanzania. At the same time, both are on average 3G.
Video is just a habit really, not a necessity at all.

With good channels from Thailand to Russia, I get an acceptable picture on Skype.
What is your internet like?
If he sits on 3g or adsl, he just needs to change the connection type.
It also helps to turn off downloading porn in a torrent.

It is possible to try to raise in the middle an input with an asterisk and vmukti.
But as mentioned above, the problem is most likely in a bad channel.
