Version control system for big projects with binaries?

It would be desirable to make control of versions on resources of the project (development of games).
Approximate characteristics of resources at the moment:
3200 folders
27K files
all together takes 6GB.
All sorts of files - binary, text, packed and unpacked.
There are also 1.5TB of sources for resources.
Please advise what can be used from existing systems. Or tell us what you use for your projects? We know that many companies use Perforce, but it costs a lot of money, we are interested in successful stories on open source Git, Mercurial, Bazaar.
SVN is definitely not suitable for us - it works very slowly. And to take the latest version and to upload updates. Tested about 2 years ago, but it is unlikely that anything has changed much since then.

Used to use svn, now git. The volume is smaller than yours. On what is (a hundred or two meters per project with resources) - it is definitely faster than svn.

By the way, as an option, if possible, it is worth considering the option of dividing resources into several repositories by topic. Well, for example, a programmer doesn't always need to have the latest monster models, and an animator doesn't always need the latest version of the selected music. Although, purely IMHO.
