Verified badge on Upwork, is it necessary?

The other day I received a message that Upwork offers to earn a "verified profile" badge. I agree that the feature is interesting, screening out "hidden agencies", and bred others. The question is, the guys are collecting our documents, what if tomorrow it will be forced, or the data will fall into the tax office. I read in a recent topic about the neighbors of Belarusians, an additional tax for citizens of this country, tomorrow Russia, the day after tomorrow Ukraine ...
What do you think about this badge, or am I too biased towards this?

You can fill in the rights. There is clearly an automatic system that reads the last name and date of birth within 30 seconds. Most likely, even then they do not save the document.

На днях получал этот бейдж. Насколько я понял из описания, пока это добровольно, позже будет обязательным пунктом. Отправлял скан вида на жительство в РФ указав что это ID card, в течении минуты проверили. В нескольких местах в описании процедуры Upwork подчеркивает, то что не делится и не хранит эти данные, но проверяет для безопасности площадки и т.п.

Прошёл верификацию, отправив фото водительского удостоверения.
В ходе видеозвонка сотрудник Upwork напомнил про запрет передавать аккаунт третьим лицам.
Судя по всему, будут банить так называемые "скрытые агентства".
