Using iPhone 4 as Wi-Fi Router for iPad

I bought myself an iPhone 4 and was happy to learn that it can be used as a wi-fi router. And I immediately thought, does it make sense to pay for two mobile Internet on an iPad and an iPhone, if you can pay for the Internet only on an iPhone, and connect the iPad to it via wi-fi. After all, the iPhone is always with you, but the iPad is not. Of the shortcomings, I see only different operating times for these devices, and if the iPhone sat down, then the iPad was left without the Internet. But in such extreme cases, you can change the SIM card.

Does anyone use such a scheme? There are other disadvantages (maybe the speed drops or something else)

The speed will be maximum, even in 3G, if there is no strong interference nearby.
The disadvantage is that the operator allows the use of the "Personal Access Point" in some specific areas, for example, in Moscow (MTS SIM card) "Personal Access Point works", but in the Moscow region. this section simply disappears from the menu.
So before using this function, check with the operator if there is such a function and where exactly it will work.

That's what I do, it's pretty convenient. The phone really drains faster than the iPad, if you leave home for a few days, this scheme will not work. For ordinary trips like "to the office in the morning - home in the evening" works with a bang.

Like a WiFi router
- you must remember to charge two devices
- you need to carry two devices with you
- the phone runs out quickly, especially on 3G
