USB line-in to laptop?

I set out to connect the guitar to my laptop to play with the effects.
Immediately, I will warn you that the level is amateur.
But the trouble is, the laptop does not have a line-in input (and there is no mic-in either, otherwise I would not have guessed that they are different).
Pretty googling, from a simple found:

  • USB audio with a separate line-in input - $ 25 . I see that there is definitely a line-in, I don’t know which one, but I think that’s enough for me. Twice as expensive as the others.
  • 3 meter USB-Jack guitar wire - $13 . I don't know what's inside the wire. I suspect that the same USB sound, but nothing is known.
  • USB sound, made for guitars - $ 12 . Pleased with an adult Jack plug, oriented for guitars, which means it should be normal, but also, no specifications of what's inside.
  • Solder your device based on some kind of USB-ADC chip. I know how to solder, even if the microcircuit is in an SSOP package, the cost price will be cheaper, and you won’t have to wait 3-4 weeks for an order from narrow-eyed brothers. + interest and experience.

I would fork out and take the E-MU 0202
, or something like that
Chinese sound systems for 700 rubles tend to break / burn after 3 months,
although if the sound is not very important and not for long, the first option is quite suitable

If the hands grow from the right place, you can assemble the device on PCM2901/PCM2903/PCM2906. The schematic is in the datasheet. It is unlikely that it will turn out cheaper than the Chinese sound system, but the parameters will be known.

It is not recommended to connect the guitar even in line-in, all the audio chips that came across on motherboards / in laptops give an unforgivably high delay for realtime playing. The option with an external full-fledged USB/firewire sound card is preferable. But if you don't want to spend money, then a guitar usb card is the best option. Perhaps you should pay attention to not quite Chinese devices of this kind jablog.ru/blog/studio-1/2271.html or less “branded” www.behringer.com/EN/Products/UCG102.aspx

To connect a guitar, it is best to use the instrument input, I have an M-Audio Fast Track, it costs a little less than 4000 rubles. A wonderful thing.

Buy yourself an ESI UGM96. It is positioned as a sound system for connecting a guitar - therefore it has "adult" Jack

You buy any USB sound, as long as it is WDM (although they get all WDM that work on the standard driver) and install this driver . For the amateur level, this is beyond the eyes. This driver worked for me on a USB sound from the Dialog company, while the processor was Sempron 2500+ - there were no delays and all VST plugins believed that I had ASIO and worked fine.

Guitar Rig Mobile. The kit also comes with software, for starters, that's it.

I note that the guitar connected via the line-in is quite noisy and has a delay of about 20 milliseconds. I solved the problem for myself by purchasing e-mu 0404 usb, and as a bonus I got an excellent sound.
