Upload large amount of data on Ubuntu Server?

Good day to all.
Tell me how best to implement the following task: you
need to upload a relatively large amount of data to a remote server, about 40 GB, the channel on the server is 500 Mbps, but on the computer from which it will be downloaded at best, only 8 Mbps (ADSL), data all different files (One 5 GB, the rest are about 5 mb each). What is the best way to implement loading? FTP? Should all files be placed in one archive?
The whole difficulty lies in the fact that connection breaks on the local PC are possible (ADSL from Rostelecom is still a pleasure).
Thanks in advance for your replies.

Pack at www.quicklz.com/exdupe (quickly squeezes and quickly decompresses). Distribute via torrent. On the server, download via the console torrent client.
40GB at 8 Mbps is just 4 days. What is the problem?

Copy to a flash drive and go somewhere with a normal channel. The alternative is something like rsync, with resume support.
