Update an old app or release a new one?

Hello. I have an old music app with ~3000 downloads (about 90 active left...).
The problem is that it is written in Apache Cordova and works with some minor bugs.
This week I will get the same application rewritten for Android, with background services and more stable functionality.
Question:
Is it worth updating the old application and promoting it, or is it better to release a clone that is easier to get into the top "gaining popularity"?

With such statistics and activity, it’s clear: it’s better to create a new one , and on the old one, make an alert:

"The development cycle of this application is completed. Based on the accumulated experience, we have developed a completely new one, taking into account all the feedback and wishes of users, and also completely rewrote the core. The new application is available here."

And who cares - everyone will put the new instead of the old, and your statistics are already zero, so you won’t lose anything.
