Unjustified CPU load when connecting Wi-Fi adapter DWA-125 Dlink?

Previously, the adapter worked fine, but now after a couple of minutes of running a computer on Windows 7 with the adapter connected, there is a sharp increase in processor load up to 80%. When the adapter is disconnected, the lags go away. No changes were made to the computer, the lags began for no reason at all. Interestingly, in other USB ports, the Internet does not connect at all. Reinstalling firewood did not help. Question: is the adapter rubbish or is the computer dying?

If some other USB device (mouse, flash drive) is connected to all ports and works normally (and the same in all ports), then Windows most likely dies.
Of the hardware parts, only the power supply of the system unit can fall under suspicion,
well, or if the motherboard is among the old ones, then it is worth looking at it for swollen electrolytic capacitors.
PS The DWA-125 itself, I hope, has been tested for normal operation on another PC / laptop?
