Hamachi and so on - just solves this problem, sorting out routes and helping to connect devices "hidden" in subnets. (very conditionally)
Unet is an api for the convenience of handling network entities, and it will work when "visibility of each other", but there are no ready-made tools for creating this "visibility". But nothing prevents you from screwing it all up yourself.
