The following problem arose: users register through social networks, I pull the city from there, I want to bring all the cities to the same names (on Facebook, for example, Saint-Petersburg comes, VKontakte - St. Petersburg + there are other variations, I want to have St. Petersburg as the output) .

I thought to do it through the Geonames API, but for St. Petersburg it gives out the name "Petersburg", which is not ok.

Are there any other options?

You can use the Geonames API by making an additional base of renames.
