Installed ubuntu server 16.04 lts on an old laptop, installation, connection setup went fine. Since this is my first experience, for convenience I decided to put mc, but it was not there.
The essence of the problem: sudo apt update, sudo apt-get update do not work, that is, they work, at the beginning they report that so many packages will be downloaded, it will take so many kilobytes ... I answer, Yes, but for the download location: Failed to get http://....ubuntu.com Temporary error when trying to get the IP address "ru.archive.ubuntu.com". And so about all the repositories that are written in /etc/apt/sources.list, rewrote it - removed the Russian locale, uncommented the deb src entries, result = 0.
