Two computers, a switch, one output of a wired router. Will it work?

There are two computers and a router with one free router output. I need internet on both computers.
Do I understand correctly that by installing a switch, I will solve my problem, a router will be available from each computer and both computers will be available from the router, which means there will be an Internet?
Will the computers have access to each other, will the traffic go through the router or only through the switch in this case?

The computers are connected to the switch, the switch is connected to the router.
In this case,
1) the Internet will be available from each computer
2) computers are accessible to each other
3) in the previous paragraph, traffic will go through the switch
4) there are still a considerable number of nuances that can significantly affect the performance of the scheme. But I guess a 'regular' switch with default settings will do the trick.
