Tuning nginx other than adding interfaces?

Good afternoon, I thought about how, in addition to the crutch in the form of adding another interface, to increase the number of tсp requests.
In short - there is a server, it works as a balancer, nginx, now it haws about 120k requests (generally with one int 60-62k, but everyone knows that the maximum is 65536)
So, how can you tune the server besides adding ints?

At this level, you need to balance at the network level (CARP or VRRP and dynamic routing based on DNS, or BGP) - this is the first thing, and try to look towards Haproxy, but you can try nginx
