Trouble updating Centos?

Hello,
the question is this:
there is - CentOS release 5 (Final)
when trying to update, yum will download all the packages, and when you try to install it, it gives the following error:

have you tried removing all elfutils packages and trying again?
yum erase elfutils\*

If I were you, I would try to download the rpms from the repository and install manually

Something similar was due to mixing different versions in different turnips. I remember I solved it by disabling problem turnips. See what yum outputs for serach elfutils-devel and info elfutils-devel and other problematic packages.
