Transfer of boxes of exchange 2013 between bases?

Good afternoon, colleagues! there was a necessity of transfer of boxes between bases. The databases are located on disks D: and E: boxes are transferred without problems, but the size of the directory "C:\Program Files\Microsoft\Exchange Server\V15\Mailbox\name of the database to which it is being transferred" increases in proportion to the transferred size of the boxes. At the moment, the size of the entire directory with Exchange has grown to 260GB. The search gave an answer only to archiving from the VSS server with standard tools, but the server size is 4.5 TB, waiting for execution is not an option.

What can be done to free this space? Thanks in advance

@akelsey

When moving boxes between bases, consider the following:

  • each transferred megabyte of the mailbox will generate 2 megabytes of transaction logs - for the source database, for the recipient database
  • the expected decrease in the Edb base will not happen, only the so-called "whihtespace" will be freed - physically the size of the base will be the same, i.e. if there are 500 boxes in the database, and the database file physically occupies 250GB, deleting all the boxes or moving it to a new location, the database will remain on the hard disk of 250GB, being completely empty.

Describe the task, what is the purpose of moving boxes from base to base?

DAG available?
If time and place allow, you can do an offline defragmentation of the mail database using eseutil.
