Tomcat duplicates logs in /var/log/messages. Can this be fixed with Tomcat?

Actually the essence of the issue is that tomcat (7.0.54-2.el7_1) duplicates all application logs in /var/log/messages. In fact, the application states that all logs need to be written to a separate mount point, which Tomcat can handle.
But since a small fs is allocated under /var/log, duplication of logs in /var/log/messages becomes a problem. Can this be fixed by means of Tomcat itself?

The solution was to remove stdout in the logging settings.
