Through what to typeset PDF?

There is a need to conveniently assemble a simple pdf document, with images and text. So that you can always correct and re-generate pdf.
What tools can be used, online or desktop.
Interested in tools for both windows and mac and ubuntu.
The option with html layout and further conversion to pdf is already understandable. Interested in other options.
Who will carry out this task?
UPD
Apparently not quite correctly raised the question. There is no problem about printing a ready-made document. Interested in, let's say, a pdf-report designer or something similar. For example, there is some text, tables, images, I want to generate a report in pdf from them. Throwing everything in doc and converting it to pdf is not suitable, because you need a good design.
We need a tool where it will be convenient to form a structure and save it in pdf, such as the layout of printed publications.

google "pdf printer", after installing it, you can "print" the page in pdf from any editor in which a printout is available (browser, notepad, photoshop, paint, corel, C #, etc.)

1. If you need exactly _printing quality_ (that is, typography-oriented: with color separation, crop marks, etc. gizmos), then the solution is custom xml and InDesign's ability to use xml content.
There is even special literature on this subject: "XML Publishing with Adobe InDesign" ( shop.oreilly.com/product/0636920015949.do )
under your report data) >> xsl:fo >> fo >> pdf . That. you will get guaranteed content (design) with a mutable part (data). You can even shove this whole thing into CI :)
Offhand: xml (with your schema, be it DTD or W3C Schema or RelaxNG) >> xsltproc (libxslt) | saxon | xalan [for the xml > fo step] >> FOP [for the fo > pdf step]
And that's it - with zero software costs.
Clause 2 is used in the documentation and is called "Single sourcing technical documentation".

A simple document is easiest to make in word and save as PDF
