I installed XAMPP on Debian 8. When I try to enter the phpmyadmin page, I get this

What is the point of installing XAMPP on Linux? Expand normal LAMP

Your MySQL cannot connect to the database
Look at /etc/phpmyadmin/config-db.php
And also if this user exists in the database.
