Theoretical question on architecture and jgroups?

I am making a small application to which I attach a GUI and a couple of services. All components are independent and can be run separately and will live on a microcomputer like rasberrypi.
I don't want to use something big and powerful like JMS for interaction. I want lightness and simplicity. Decided to try jGroups. And can anyone else advise what to connect the individual processes?
