The second life of an old pc?

I bought a laptop for work, the PC remained gathering dust, its power is not high (I don’t remember the exact parameters) it pulls medium toys. But it's a pity to throw it away, I don't want to sell it. Are there any ideas what it can be turned into at home?

Everyone would have your problems. It also pulls toys, as you put it.
If you do not need a file server, router and media center, you can donate it to those in need.

You can install Linux with a lightweight desktop
such as Xfce or LXDE
and you can use the PC as a workstation

I do not know the parameters of your hardware, but I will offer options:
1. Virtualization (running in developments on other systems, browsers, as well as installing web services to work on a local network)
2. Home file cleaning + media center. Here the problem is only in the number of hard ones and their volume that the iron will pull.
3. Finish with a file and give to relatives / those in need. For example, mother-in-law or sister instead of her ancient one.
4. Sell, old hardware is valued in the secondary market, depending on the configuration, prices go from 4 thousand for a complete piece of junk in the form of a processor on a 775 socket with a video card and 2-4GB of RAM, up to ...
5. A piece of iron for organizing a fashionable nowadays functionality - "Smart home"
6. Install operating systems and games that do not run in modern emulators, such as Windows 98, and thus treat bouts of nostalgia.
