The screw slows down on an old computer, what should I do?

There is an old computer, in it the screw ST3120022A on 120 Gb. Recently, loading games has become very slow, copying files in the total commander showed about a meter / sec (!). Defragmenting with Norton did not help.

What to do with it? If the screw cannot be saved, will it be better than looking for a new one to buy a gigabit LAN card for less than 10 euros and load games from NASA (read / write speed over gigabit is about 40 meters / sec)?
