The new branch contains commits from the previous branch, is that normal?

Colleagues, tell me a newbie in the Gita. When I create a new branch, the git log command shows only the commit created in the current branch, as well as in the new branch a couple of commits from the previous master branch. Is that how it should be?

Yes, the new branch is a duplicate of the current branch that has taken a different path.
