The first picture of the post is not displayed as a thumbnail, how to fix it?
Hello!
Please tell me why the first picture in the post is not displayed in the category as a thumbnail, how can I fix this?
I publish articles and pictures from other sites, just by the link to save space on the hosting, and there is not so much of it ...
But the thumbnail is not displayed, and a standard picture is put ...
What can I do to fix it?
Thanks in advance!

Hello!
First of all, the first image is in the main content and should not be displayed as a thumbnail, especially if it is a link to an external source.
Let me remind you that the post thumbnail is set separately in the block on the right, and not in the content area.
Luckily, there are plugins out there that can make your life easier.
For example, https://wordpress.org/plugins/set-all-first-images...
https://ru.wordpress.org/plugins/get-first-image-s...
BUT! The plugin will work only if the image is hosted on your site and not on another site.
Then another plugin comes to the rescue https://ru.wordpress.org/plugins/auto-upload-images/
When you insert an image into the text from the outside and publish a post, the plugin parses the image to your hosting and publishes it on your site
Or you can use this plugin https://ru.wordpress.org/plugins/featured-image-fr.. .It
gives you the ability to add thumbnails from outside.
If an image is taken from the link, it is loaded in its original resolution. Change the size with styles, create a class for thumbnails and give it the desired width and height. In terms of optimization, it is better to load the current size immediately, so that the page weighs less. And if on the site from which you take the path or file name changes, then it will not open for you, you understand?
