The easiest video editor to cut?

You need to make a cut from several videos.
What is the most elementary in terms of programs?
I know the pros use Adobe Premiere. Is it really quick to figure it out in order to make at least elementary cuts? Or are there simple programs?

You don't know what's in the file - and you put it in eval line by line, and eval doesn't like an identifier that begins with a backslash.
For starters, at least show what's in the file.
